The Many Ways To Use Tea Tree Essential Oil

Tea Tree Essential Oil (TTEO) is a very versatile product and can be used to replace a lot of chemical-based products commonly used on your skin or around your home. Extracted from the leaves of the Tea Tree, this oil is alternatively called "melaleuca oil" and is related to eucalyptus, guava, and clove. Native to tropical and warm regions of the world, the tea tree can be found in Australia, the Philippines, and other parts of Asia. Used for a wide variety of purposes, this essential oil has significant uses for skin and hair. Keep reading for an ongoing list of ways to use this essential oil!

Please note that due to the potent formula of TreeActiv Tea Tree Essential Oil, a few drops go a long way. Use sparingly and test on your skin for any irritations before using on your whole body. Always be sure to avoid contact with your eyes or sensitive tissues.

Use Tea Tree Essential Oil As A Spot Treatment  

TTEO directly to pimples. Tea tree oil can be applied directly to pimples for an effective and safe acne treatment. 


Directions: To apply, add a few drops of tea tree oil onto a cotton ball, cotton pad or tissue. Gently dab the tea tree oil onto any pimples or troubled spots. Let the oil be completely absorbed by your skin and leave overnight, if possible. The redness and swelling should begin to decrease after the first use. Repeat as needed until you reach the desired results. 


Use It As A Homemade Cosmetic Serum  

If you find that by applying the oil directly to your skin is a little too drying for your specific skin type, then try using it in a homemade serum.


Directions : Mix a couple of drops of the TTEO with a few teaspoons of aloe vera gel, honey, or cosmetic clay, then  apply directly onto the pimple you wish to eliminate. 

Create A Homemade Face Scrub 

Tea Tree Essential Oil is great in a homemade recipe if it's not incorporated into your routine Acne Eliminating Face Scrub. You can make a basic recipe at home with a few common natural ingredients from your kitchen cupboard.


Directions: In a small container, combine 1/2 cup of raw sugar, 1/4 cup of sesame or almond oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and approximately 10 drops of TreeActiv Tea Tree Essential Oil. Gently massage onto wet, clean skin using gentle circular motions. Let product sit for 5-10 minutes. Wash off with warm water and pat your face dry with a clean towel.

 

Use TTEO In Moisturizers & Cleansers 

You can add a few drops of TTEO to your daily moisturizer and cleanser to help combat stubborn pimples.


Directions: Apply 1-3 drops, depending on how strong you want it, and gently rub it into your skin along with your favorite face moisturizer or cleanser.

 

Homemade Face Mask 

A few drops of TTEO can be added to either store bought or homemade face masks to kill bacteria and dry out pimples. To make your own mask, following the directions below.

  • Jojoba & Tomato: Mix 4-5 drops of TreeActiv Tea Tree Essential Oil with two tablespoons of jojoba oil, then stir in half of a very finely chopped tomato. Mash together to make a purée. Apply this refreshing face mask directly to clean skin and leave on for ten minutes before rinsing off with warm water and patting dry.
  • Oatmeal & Honey: Chop up 1/8 cup oatmeal in food processor, blender, or with rolling pin. Mix with 1/8 cup of honey and 4-5 drops of tea tree essential oil, then apply to skin for ten minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry
  •  Yogurt: Mix 4-5 drops of tea tree essential oil into plain, unflavored yogurt. Apply to face, let sit for ten minutes, then rinse with warm water.

 

As A Homemade Face Scrub

With just a few ingredients from your kitchen, you can create a simple face scrub. Here are some combinations we enjoy. Mix up your face scrub, apply to face and let rest for 15 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.

  • Sugar, oatmeal, olive oil, and tea tree essential oil
  • Lemon, honey, oatmeal, and tea tree essential oil
  • Coconut water, sugar, lime, and tea tree essential oil

 

To Treat Dandruff 

TreeActiv Tea Tree Essential Oil is very effective in clearing up dandruff. Add TTEO to your daily shampoo to help reduce flaking and nourish the scalp. TTEO can also be used with other essential oils (rose hip essential oil or coconut oil is great) to massage into your scalp, then rinse clean.

A few drops of tea tree essential oil into your diffuser or bath can help your body in many ways. Tea tree essential oil is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, encourages wound healing, clears lung and sinus congestion, stimulates the immune system and could even destroy parasitic infections.

 

Home Cleaner

Cutting back on chemical use, tea tree essential oil can be incorporated into your home cleaning routine. TTEO can kill mold, repel insects, is anti-microbial, removes odor and cleans surfaces. You can make a basic home cleaner by mixing the following ingredients into a spray bottle:
